green bean casserole

Uncategorized / February 5, 2007

i love green bean casserole. its my signature dish. brian loves it even more. yes, we’re a classy bunch.

its so easy to make – and usually a crowd pleaser. (i say usually because there is a heavy mushroom factor to be considered – you can leave them out, but who wants to do that?)

ingredients:

3 cans of cut green beans – you can use french if you prefer, but it really doesn’t matter
1 can of cream of mushroom soup — i like campbells. they have one with roasted garlic added that is delicious
1 can of mushroom pieces
shredded cheese – cheddar is my pick
1 BIG can of fried onions

pour everything except onions in a casserole dish. mix all this up, with a dash of salt and pepper, and a tiny bit of milk to help things mix. add a bit of cheese on top, and pop in the oven for 30 minutes on 375 degrees.

after 30 minutes, add the onions on top – use the WHOLE can for maximum goodness – and cook for 5 more minutes, or until the onions start to brown a bit.

the dish will be very hot! so after cooling for about 5 minutes, EAT!
