pottery barn

Uncategorized / January 6, 2008

this has been needing a good dealing with, so let’s just get it out of the way. one fell swoop.

pottery barn.

we’re going to touch on three points:
1 -their new stuff is atrocious
2 -i got the faux fur coverlet for xmas and it did not work
3 – if you must, then pottery barn kids is the only acceptable option

i fear these pictures don’t do the horribleness justice, so please supplement with actual catalog. everything is orange or yellow. ick. and they have a new WORLD TRAVELER! section, so that you can buy things like that basket and hang it over your bed and it will conjure up memories of your trip to south africa that you didn’t really go on – you just went to pottery barn, dropped $79 and then went back to bed in your orange room.

that couch is orange. orange twill. and there’s an enlarged foot stool for your coffee table – and the pillows have large buttons on the front. that’s great pottery barn. nothing like woven fibers and honey finished wood to go with your orange couch. sign me up. the fur was hot. so very hot. temperature hot. we could not bear it. it was perfectly soft, nice, long, etc. just hot.

when i took it back, the lady said, “oh, you didn’t like it?”
no. it was too hot.
“ohhh… you weren’t using it for decorative purposes?..?!.”
no, i wanted to use it. for use purposes.

the kids line, on the other hand, is full of cuteness. they teamed up with hable construction to offer lots of really good new fabric choices. see:
