fashion for the rest of us, and shopping

Uncategorized / April 30, 2012

i’ll leave the real fashion blogging to the fashionistas, because lord knows they do it better than i ever could, but i do have to share a pretty phenomenal purchase i made today at ann taylor.  first, i had no idea to even go there (again, i know yal knew– but i am so fashion-challenged) until keila alerted me of these super chic flats, which i’ve been sorely in need of.

look!  bought!  today – on sale in store for only $54, in my size!  they also make a fantastic royal blue which keila got.

i also got this number on major sale too – it’s a little more neon in person.  i know – two neon purchases, slow down ke$ha, but i hadn’t made any yet, so i think i’m still within quota.

it was a good day – we were at the beach this weekend, and today while brian tinkered, i went old school shopping.  like hide the bags in the trunk shopping.  it was marvelous.  it’s funny – before i started furbish and worked all the time, i used to ‘go shopping’ on the weekends, but i haven’t done it in forever.  i forgot how magical wondering around in shops and picking out something you don’t need one bit and buying it can be!  case in point, i decided today to start collecting spongeware.

it seems like if it’s done sparingly (more splatter, less dabbing), it’s not too country. i love it.  we happened into a really great antique tortoise-shell cabinet at the shop,

and i’ve got plans to adopt it for a while.  i think my new collection will be a perfect start to filling it.

i also got one of these

goooo tell it on the mountain!

"Date 1944. Sorority sisters at the University of Texas." by sdasfvrce in OldSchoolCoolOn East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Design
ter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
