catching up on things

Uncategorized / January 27, 2014

yo la tengo amigos.  let’s catch up.

i headed to salt lake city last week with some of the furb team — jessica, keila and my friend lauren in tow, we set out to host a dinner, sponsor a lunch for 600 people, speak on a panel with dwell studio founder and newly named executive creative director of wayfair christiane lemieux, and have some general girly blogger blowout fun.  we succeeded.  a few pics from our events:

one of our giveaways was a notebook and sticker set, with a space to proudly proclaim how you like to mix it up (look, this wasn’t a summit on brain surgery or rocket science – but equally as important: lady blogging).

lauren made her mix on the plane, and i couldn’t help but mix my own too.

we also brought hot pink pencils with an even more important call to action:

i thoroughly enjoy alt every year – it’s a great time to network, be utterly and completely inspired by all of the amazing talented women who are adding so much to the blogosphere, and to eat queso at the hotel bar (you have to order food every time you order a drink in utah- this would not be good for my skinny jeans were it the deal in raleigh).  case in point on that talent, just look at a sampling of the biz cards i brought home:

i came home with mucho gusto to make things pretty around my crib, my blog, my shop and our website.  there’s nothing like a few days of unbridled creativity to get the juices flowing!  (and i missed rowdy)

"Date 1944. Sorority sisters at the University of Texas." by sdasfvrce in OldSchoolCoolOn East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Design
ter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
