a wrightsville wedding weekend

My Style, Travel, Uncategorized / September 22, 2014

brian’s sweet cousin catherine got married at the beach this weekend.  brian and i got hitched at wrightsville too, so an early fall beach wedding is a soft spot for us.  we had an amazing time with friends and family and here are the times i remembered to use my camera.

the gorgeous view from one of the many homes that hosted events this weekend.

my mother-in-law hosted the bridesmaids’ luncheon and i ate this entire thing and half of another.

simple.  gorgeous.  old churches win.

 again, simple and gorgeous.

wandering around downtown wilmington.  we are porch experts down here.

speaking of easy elegance, brian is growing his hair out.  it’s a difficult time. there’s a lot of this

to get one of these

we made it through the ceremony hair mostly intact, and headed back to the beach for a fun evening.

a southern start to the reception at the surf club – signature gin cocktails, monogrammed napkins, custom koozies and hydrangeas on every table.

photo booth fun with brian’s parents

oh, hi.

a moment like this. some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this

the happy couple – now look at them, they’re sparkling. (i like to sing that spark-ca-lynn — you try. it’s more fun that way.  and yes, that’s the world’s stupidest video.  way off topic here)

anywhoo.

i found time to eat eggs.

major found time to be cute, yet wonky.

and hosting a luncheon means we get pretty flowers at our house for the rest of the weekend. thumbs up emoticon. (it’s hard to talk without them now, right?)

another peek at a hosting house. don’t you love this huge dried hydrangea situation, and those rugs – they were everywhere.

and at this same house, an amazing press release for the eastern north carolina newspapers from a party they threw in 1990. burt reynolds was there. i know this b/c his photo is framed, and signed beside this piece.

huge dance shoes to fill, but i think we gave that party a run for its money.

thanks for the borrowed instagram photos bcmaj and magscraig

"Date 1944. Sorority sisters at the University of Texas." by sdasfvrce in OldSchoolCoolOn East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Design
ter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
