a busy month of southern shows

Uncategorized / April 8, 2015

april is shaping up to be the coolest month…  i’ll take that over cruel.

lots of travel and talks, starting with this weekend — i’ll be at the southern ideal home show here in raleigh.  the largest home and garden event in the triangle, the show features over 300 area experts in building, renovations, garden, and interior design.  i’m excited to join the show this year as a presenter and exhibitor.  i’ll be sharing my tricks and tips on spring entertaining this weekend over 4 presentations, as well as transforming a designated area of the show with several kooky and crazy tablescapes, showcasing tons of ideas and inspirations for making your table the life of the party.

i’m headed to dallas mid-month for a faschun conference – staying at my fave hotel, the joule, where i’ll be joined by lots of my stylish blogger friends from across the country and we’ll judge the fashion of the bloggers we don’t know.  just kidding.  not really.  what do you think we’re doing, solving world hunger?

and on april 29th, i’m off to my home-away-from-home, charleston, to attend the southern c summit, where i’m presenting with my friend stacey smallwood from hampden clothing.  the summit is hands down the best conference i’ve attended – i look forward to it every year.  impeccably managed with an all-star lineup of presenters like eddie ross, tori mellott, domino editor robert leleux, laura vinroot poole and harper poe, the weekend is full of facts, the most delicious southern food, and cocktails around every corner.

and stuck smack in the middle of all that, the NEW cameron village store is opening on april 18th.  we’re teaming up with moon & lola to throw a helluva block party to kick things off – so make sure you save that date to come and see the latest installment of the crazy playground i call furbish!

On East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Designter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
