a week in LA

Travel, Uncategorized / February 23, 2016

heading home today from a week in LA – i worked with weddingwire.com and target on special project involving two amazing makeovers, plus i got my dose of laid-back LA vibes, plenty of sun, so much design inspiration and of course, fantastic food.

a salty dog made the view even better during lunch in malibu

the sun was always just right poolside at the avalon hotel, one of my favorite places to post up for a week when i’m working
inspiration everywhere in LA, especially at mecox

getting mic’d up with my target crew
behind the scenes filming a room refresh in the hollywood hills
the lovely nicholette mason enjoying her new rooftop
the perfectly designed malibu pier farm cafe

a real wearstler moment in the lobby of the avalon – she designed the hotel, and it doesn’t disappoint with her signature drama deco touches
a sneak peek of the vibe from the rooftop makeover

filming at sunset

waking up in hollywood (regency).  the beds at the avalon are magic – the best linens and a mattress i admit, i inquired about buying.
a sultry corner at harbinger

cool blues, glammy golds and luxe neutrals make this table inviting

floors, i had a thing with them
fabrics at peter dunham

brunch bloody mary bar (too bad i don’t like them!)

one pleased pup after his office makeover

shakin things up at the hotel bar – the perfect spot to meet up with friends to grab a cocktail by the pool before heading to dinner.
digging the plaid banquettes in viviane, the hotel restaurant, and my new kicks.  breakfast downstairs is a must.  the restaurant overlooks the pool and the morning light streams in like nothing else.

my must-haves for long flights and lots of travel: oribe texturizing spray, bobbi brown grass and green algae mask, bumble and bumble surf spray and elta moisturizer

catching the happy clients after the big reveal of their office re-do
great views all around at the malibu pier farm cafe
cocktail snacks and big ice cube – i found my happy place every evening at the hotel
constantly getting my hair de-crazied
snapshots of the pretty table

design shopping on la cienega
again, the LA light is just right – here on the wall rurals designs by wearstler by the avalon pool.

eye candy everywhere at hollywood at home

living for these fabric upholstered walls
all of it – just right, in peter dunham’s store
never knowing what to do with my hands during filming

i couldn’t fit it all in my carry-on, but i would’ve
a chic moment at joe lucas’ harbinger

"Date 1944. Sorority sisters at the University of Texas." by sdasfvrce in OldSchoolCoolOn East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Design
ter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
