making plans

Decorating, Uncategorized / February 29, 2016

we’ve started the upfit at our new space – first items of business are installing a kitchen and bar area , building out some walls, and adding some huge sliding barn doors to help the space flex the way we need it to for events.

my good friend and designer-to-the-stars heather garrett is helping me not eff it all up (i’m a newbie with kitchen design) and the guys at raleigh reclaimed are barn-bustin’ out the doors for us.

i’m hoping to keep you guys updated on the transformation as it starts to take shape.  i’m most excited about the tile we’ve picked out for the kitchen – it’s a steal i found from wayfair.

we’re adding the appliances and work area on this wall, and building out a bar and counter top across from it.

the bulk of kitchen is coming from ikea, and we’re pairing it with a huge mirror, sconces to flank it, a runner and some accents.

we’ve made the big picks, and we’re just narrowing down a few more details this week as the contractors get started.

some inspiration we’re digging as we make (what seems like) a zillion choices.

On East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Designter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
