engagement party must-haves

Uncategorized / July 13, 2016

some exciting news – my good friend leah recently got engaged!  since we’re in party planning mode, working with hallmark on must-haves for hosting a summer soiree seemed like a perfect fit.  i was asked to participate in the #HallmarkAtWalgreens #HappilyEverHallmark campaign, sponsored by hallmark at walgreens, so i was stoked about the opportunity to kick-off my concept by collaborating with hallmark.  although i have been compensated, all opinions are my own!

i knew we wanted to have a super casual fun summer vibe for leah’s engagement party, so i started at walgreen’s looking for a card to set the scene perfectly.

it was refreshing to see that no matter the relationship, or the wedding-related event, hallmark had plenty of great choices for cards -from celebrations of same sex couples, to commitment ceremonies, cute and quirky congrats cards, and festive invites.

although i got a little side-tracked with all the fun cards i could purchase for other friends, i settled on the perfect invite for leah’s party – feeling inspired, i pulled together a few essentials for hosting a laid-back summer cocktail party to celebrate the newly engaged couple.

colorful cocktails, bright boho accessories, and a fun festive summer vibe started to come together once i chose the perfect card.  walgreens made it simple to run in and out, grabbing what i needed so i could get down to the task of pulling together the perfect engagement party.

i love serving summer margs in a pretty vintage-inspired glass.  green glass tumblers with cheerful drink stirrers make the perfect party cocktail.  blue and white plates for outdoor serving are chic and casual, paired with bright patterned cocktail napkins from caspari.

turkish towels make excellent table runners, and can be repurposed as gifts after the party.  throw an assortment of them across picnic tables for an instant upgrade.  a glammy gold cake topper from moon & lola makes a homemade cake a bit more special, and mr and mrs glasses are an obvious gift for the couple.

blue and white bowls are perfect for bar snacks – a set of 3 nesting bowls will do the trick, and another turkish towel in bold stripes makes the perfect tablecloth for a extra cocktail tables.  tassel necklaces are a fun party gift to fit the vibe – we’ll hand them out to guests as they arrive, and they’ll know exactly where to put their gifts thanks to the gold gift table sign.

this wedding season, hallmark cards at walgreens are an easy go-to to save time, and convey the perfect sentiment, no matter what the festive occasion!

The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
