can i just tell you about some things i’ve discovered lately? a real array of things. let’s get started.
1 – sarah sherman samuel used her influence to influence me to buy another puffer coat a few nights ago. watching her IG story, i was all ‘dang that cute is kinda cute, wonder where it’s from’. and then she knew it was cute, and told us. AMAZON. and it’s casually $37.99. so i bought it.
but here’s the real thing i’ve discovered: whether you’re in nyc and walking all over tarnation in your doc marten boots and high-waisted Levis feeling snug in your vagine but secure in your coolness, and the wind is blowing and it’s a special kinda shitty city cold, or it’s aspen and you’re bopping around town in the snow with your faux fur hat and your sorel boots and the sweater you spent too much for at goop (IT’S NOW ON SALE!!), OR you’re in raleigh, walking two schnauzers 8 times a day and paying for parking every hour downtown for coffee meetings, where it doesn’t matter what you wear – well, i guess you can have on some madewell jeans and a pair of golden goose sneakers (shearling lined whut!) and turn heads, but – THE POINT IS the warmest coat, in all the places, is a puffer jacket. i transferred my trusty old london fog puffer to aspen, got a dope-ass uniqlo one for nyc, and am without in raleigh, and this week, i’ve been generally freezing on all dog outings. so thanks Sarah! good looking out. (but seriously, if you’re in the market for a puffer, I’d go Uniqlo first. you can’t beat this one for the price, warmth, and great cut)
quickly, while we’re on uniqlo – a friend in SF educated me on their heat technology line, and i tried a few pieces last nyc trip and NOW THEY ARE LIFE. that warm life.
specifically, these turtlenecks. i did invest in these for all the places because 1) i am cold all the time due to my unaccomodation for life 2) i love a turtleneck moment because i’m turning into nora nephron and 3) this turtleneck is super-packable, washes flawlessly, and you can wear it as underbits, or just pop it on by itself with jeans for a sleek cindy crawford dinner date look. it’s cold AF right now in raleigh, like 20 tonight, and i wore the turtleneck under a black cashmere turtleneck to dinner, and felt great about things. TWO TURTLENECKS!
also on the roster to consider if you dig into the heat tech line —
the crewneck – i wear that in aspen for outdoor activities, and when a turtleneck feels too aggressive.
the leggings! oh how i love the leggings. would wear a pair under my jeans when it was -4 in colorado and i was just fine. also could get away with long skirts when it’s that cold by wearing two pair.
let’s jump back to amazon quickly. we’re deep in sconce-world right now for the bahamas project — picking out a massive round of lighting choices, and i just wasn’t finding what i wanted from all the regular stops. so after a round of googling, i ended up on these, which were exactly what i couldn’t find, and they are $38 and come in 6 very attractive colors. the reviews are good. i said yes. praise be for amazon.
and circling all the way back to instagram influence, i saw pencil and paper co post their lovely breakfast nook with THESE CHAIRS. we just added them to the site this week. imagine, a panton inspired modern moment mixed with our nancy myers loving blue and white collecting southern girl wicker! i think these are gonna be a hit.
and in other hit news, if this is your year to fancy up, these rebecca de ravenel earbobs are on sale and fancy just got a lot more accessible. love the little shells, these feel exotic and sexual, a tiger skirt worth checking out, and i really enjoy this red dress.
that’s what i got. i’m still Jenny from the block. i’m not. happy tuesday.
