let’s have a chat this morning, okur?
i’m working from home this morning. me on one end of the tigre and major is perched on the other end. i heard one time that cats are either tree cats, or ground cats (does your cat like to be up high, or like to hide under things down low, like the bed?). major is decidedly a tree cat. rowdy is eeyore.
i have the raleigh crud that the entire city seems to have caught. it’s a general ugh feeling, combined with some coughing, sneezing and inability to put real clothes on (third day in sweatpants).
however, despite my adversities, getting shiz done. i am traveling to jaipur, india in 10 days with a group of lady-decorators, and SF decorator grant gibson at the helm as our host. india feels 93458 miles away to me, and i’m a bit nervous. i won’t be alone though – i’m flying to paris first for a few nights to meet up with my friend jordan, and from there we’ll hop over to delhi together. we’ll be in jaipur for about two weeks, doing the yoga, buying the rugs, eating the curries and block printing all of our items. i am equally anxious face emoji with teeth showing, grateful praying hands emoji and maybe a little pink heart heart with two sparkles. got it?
until then, i’m here in raleigh, werking on work, nesting at the kondo, exercising (i seem to only be able to do that here), eating dinners with friends and watching movies at the alamo draft house.
kondo is definitely shaping up. i do not come in hot one single bit on this project – it’s has been a crawling test of patience for me, but progress is now palpable, and i even thought about throwing a party before leaving for india. then asher told me to get an entire grip – i’m not ready, and lesley said there are no bartenders in raleigh to be found on the particular weekend i was considering, so icksnay on the apartypay.
i’m a firm believer there’s nothing more motivating to get shit done than a deadline, so i’m going to shoot for april now. all that needs to happen is:
- a layering rug over the sisal
- a chest east side of tigre
- a new table skirt on west side of tigre
- relaxed roman shades for the huge-ass windows
- a long chinese console for behind dining room table
- art over console
- skinny lamps for console
- install the kitchen backsplash (do i even want mirror now, or do i want a star tile?)
- frame the three emoji paintings on subway maps from nyc and hang
- nightstands
- sconces
- lamps
- paint the bathroom dusty mauve
- make a shower curtain out of a Carolina Irving and sisters tablecloth
- replace vanity nirror
- get a sconce
well, that’s a list for you. that’s actually the first time I’ve written that out – so thank you.
maybe these are good house-warming gifts…
news:
karl lagerfeld died and that feels weird. did you see his bookcases on my IG story? wowzer de la wow.
today’s pop-up over at furbish is really good – iconic travel destination matchbooks, all original watercolors by jessica rowe. it starts at 12pm. and i’d love your input – would you like for me to offer prints of the originals after the sale?
and also, putting this out there for accountability purposes — see all these little sidebars, and banners and shopping sections (up top) – I am updating those every two weeks with new finds for fashion, home, gifts, and whatever else strikes my fancy. browse about, there’s some good stuff.
