mixing it up so it matches

Decorating / May 12, 2019

we’ve been doing a little more e-decorating lately. sometimes that hat is still in the closet and it’s fun to put it on for a bit. offering help to folks that aren’t local is inspiring because you really get to use your imagination.  there’s a level of trust when someone reaches out via email – they usually really dig my style, so they’re in for the ride.  i get to try new ideas i’ve been dabbling with, source fun product i’ve been eyeing from big box retailers, and then i get to see the client put their new look together once everything is ordered – and that’s pretty fun.

here’s a little gist of how that bizness goes down – a client’s living room with a few vibes and options for cooking up a good-looking living room recipe.

On East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Designter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
