I’m typing on le tigre. I sit at one end and major is all the way down at the either — it’s 12′ long so we’re brb, I’m doing my own thing down here. the weather today (saturday) was a spectacle to behold, kanye really shined his light on this one. the sun is still hitting the trees outside my window – and I dare say bob ross would start with his green and then do some fluttering with a golden yellow whilst painting it, and it’s lovely.
tad went with me to Winston-Salem this weekend to do a Father’s Day double-header with dad and uncle. for the longest time I dreaded going home to WS. I was challenged by my family, by my brain – I was just uncomfortable a lot. I feel like I’m finally finding my way back though. it’s nice to find my jams now in my hometown: we stay downtown at the Kimpton Hotel with the dogs, which is an entirely pleasant experience. the restaurant there is just fine, and we can walk to a really great little indie movie theatre – which we did last night, and caught Late Night.
I’d seen the trailer for Late Night and made a note to watch it — but failed to file the name away in an accessible brain dept., so we didn’t recognize the film, just bought a ticket and went it to be surprised. I was so tickled it was the mindy kaling movie! it was fantastic. really really good. smart and current but weird and kinda formulaic in the best possible way, and the wardrobe stylist killed it – Emma Thompson looked like a god damn rock star.
I wore these jeans all weekend and they provided a very fine feeling. I bought a size up because I can’t deal with anything tight in my entire life right now (also because I’m pretty sure I am an actual size up, but for the last like 4 years I think I’ve been trying to board with group 2 when my ticket is very clearly marked GROUP 3.)
I just drove myself to Lowes, of garner, where I prefer to do my grocery shopping for now, until downtown raleigh gets a grocer, and I purchased 6 bouquets of carnations, bc that’s all they had and carnations can still be magic, some summery dinner items, and bag of mint thin Oreos because I keep them in the refrigerator and treat myself when I solve a mystery.
we’re Marie kondo-ing over at furbish – there are some really good deals still, like this kooky straw elephant head from Morocco, this candy-colored dhurrie, and this extra-chic leather dog collar.
I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. the love and light in me sees the glimmer in your eye, wondering what Britney Spears is up to (something right?). same.
