(must) watching
we watch lots of movies in aspen. the family room (replete with huge custom kravet like-new sectional I scored at the thrift-store - insert praise hand emojis) is perfect for curling up and catching a flick, especially when it's snowing. we watched two really good ones last week: limitless with Bradley Cooper (fascinating, action-packed, he's attractive, really smart premise) and ideal home, which was one of the funniest films I've seen in a very long time. set in Santa Fe (which was refreshing!), Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan are a couple, living their best-lives hosting dinners for Elle decor, until an estranged grandson shows up. ensues: Taco Bell, an extravagant indian birthday party, plenty of cowboy hats, and so many laugh-out-loud moments. must watch.
eating
I've been in a real rut in the kitchen. I think I used to cook? but in this life, tad wears the chef's apron, and i... sit at my laptop. but when I'm solo in raleigh, which is often enough, I'm mostly a one-trick pony these days: pasta, veggies, and a protein. snoreapolooza (I used to have the best tie-dyed lollapalooza t-shirts in middle school - I ordered it because I had a crush on a short boy named Jeff, and he had one) -- is that still a thing (not crushes, the festival)? ANYWHO. back to pinning some new recipes. I'm typically not a fruit salad of any sort type of girl - let fruit be is my party, but this spicy situation caught my eye, and I'm going to try it this weekend for a little fete I'm hosting. it's very pretty, at the leastest.

shopping
the blogger bonanza / nordstrom anniversary sale starts this week - early access for card holders opens on friday, and the rest of us back in coach (what if we were literally wearing all coach?), well we can shop monday. whether you're influenceable or not, the sale is a huge one - tons of new fall items are heavily discounted, including lines like Isabel marant, rag and bone and le labo. I've been cruising for a few fall finds - we've got some cool weather travel coming up shortly, and I have to admit, with the temperature at 120348 degrees plus the humidity is this here raleigh rainforest, I am not opposed to thinking about autumnal outfits right about now. keep an eye out later this week for my real deal anniversary sale picks, and for now, here's what I'm hoping will be half-off.

I've always found the magic, for me, is in that moment you find inspiration (used to be in magazines, now it's on instagram) and can quickly take action, and implement an idea you were energized by. it can catch ya in the funniest ways, ie this photo on Anna spiros' ig feed of her coffee table. the minute I saw it: HARK AF, I need a blue and white bowl on my coffee table. that's what it/life is missing. so I went on a quick hunt, found a few I was fixin' to pull the trigger on, and then remembered I had a literal cabinet full of blue and white bowls, so I plopped one down and this is me now. makes me so happy. isn't that the stuff? in case you don't have literal or figurative cabinets full (because you're sane) here are the ones I peeped.

wearing
I had an extra-fun fourth in aspen (too fun really and due mostly in part to this $50 mimosa I started the day with - wt entire f?). I had to wear my kitty Joseph rainbow skirt for full festive feels, and I paired it with a cdg button-down and my platform white converse. love these shirts so much. you don't have to dry clean them because they look a little less douchey when they're rumpled a bit. here are a few of my fave cdg moments, if you're hearting one for yourself

giving
another perk of the nordstrom sale: it's when the diptyque votive sets go on sale, and I'm not kidding you, these are the very best grab-and-go gift you can keep on hand. I stock up for raleigh and Colorado, so when we're scooting to a dinner party, I can add a pretty bow and get going with a gift that just about everyone will appreciate. keep an eye out for this crazy deal when the sale opens on friday!

'you're a badass and should be photographed that way', reads Greenville photographer Ladygroove's website. I am mesmerized by this high-end boudoir photography, shot by Allie monday. her photos of women are so brave, and honest and beautiful. her studio is strikingly well-designed, and her instagram account is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
