who’s that girl – is it you?

Furbish / August 8, 2019

today at noon, furbish is launching a new pop-up shop with chambers austelle.  you may remember her pop-up sale from early this year (it sold out in like 4 seconds).  she’s back with a brand new body (arms, fingers, lips) of work exclusive to furb, and issa vibe.

she’s created 20 original collages – she calls them ‘memories’.  Chambers says, “These works represent the memories and stories that have individually shaped us into to who we are today. Comprised of cut outs from magazines, these pieces allude to the interwoven and sometimes conflicting dialogue with we have between ourselves and the media world”.

the whole situation got me so inspired I started thinking on the girl who go for each piece.  how has she been shaped?  what’s her vision of herself, and do others get to see her that way?  and when I think of this girl, I thought about her lewk, and I got to work, creating 5 vibes for 5 collages.  who’s that girl, is it you?

On East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Designter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
