THE TIMING COULDN'T BE BETTER FOR MELVIN G'S POP-UP TO LAUNCH AT FURBISH -- THIS TUESDAY, AN EXCLUSIVE COLLECTION OF COLLAGES SHE CREATED FOR US WILL DROP, AND THEY ARE WILD AND WONDERFUL - PERFECTLY FANTASTICAL TO SET THE MOOD FOR HALLOWEEN VIBEZ.

Morgan Elvington Walker is the magic behind Melvin G.  She creates her art in Florence, South Carolina, where she lives with her husband, son and daughter.

Morgan's work focuses on control: 'I have observed the stark contrast of my father’s awareness of his declining penmanship due to Parkinson’s Disease with my young daughter’s oblivion to her lack of control, and  I try to emulate the intentionality of his tiny marks with the freeness of her large chaotic scribbles into my abstract work'. There is a beautiful and natural balance in the two forming a unique paper background, which I then cut and form into collages allowing me to apply a fresh form of control into each and every piece.'

From meticulously cut tiny scraps of paper, Morgan forms her signature kooky characters, as well as her newest pop-art series: a smattering of 3-dimensional colorful flowers that instantly draw the eye in.

The pop-up features 40 pieces - ranging in size from 9" x 12" up to 12" x 18", and they're priced from $150 to $350.  It opens at 12pm est tomorrow, on furbish's site.,  Make sure you're on our newsletter list, and you'll get the inside scoop on pop-up artists first - find out what inspires them, what they're diggin' at the moment and more!  Morgan shared her top 10 with us, from her fave hotel to what she's craving for fall.

On East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Designter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
