One of my fave hotels in all the land is the Crosby Street Hotel in NYC. I was thinking this am, I’ve maybe actually stayed there once? but I’ve gone in for vibes vibes vibes many times, and when friends are in town, I make sure we swing by the hotel for a drink in the sitting room off the lobby. There’s an honor bar, which I always find so charming, but moreover, it’s Kit Kemp’s decorating that gets me every time. Kit’s responsible for all of the Firmdale Hotel Group’s properties, each full of eye-candy, inspo and ideas. She’s a master of the mix, combining global textiles with organic textures, shiny surfaces and statement wallpapers, and traditional casegoods with modern lighting.
Her signature bedrooms are best-known for soaring headboards upholstered in lively prints, voluminous curtains that coordinate, and whimsical bedside artwork that adds character. I respect a formula, and Kit has nailed down the recipe for a luxe getaway that doesn’t feel fussy. Have a gander at some of her good-good guestrooms, and keep scrolling for an easy-to-shop edit of pieces guaranteed to get the look.
I was lucky enough to see her Number Sixteen designed hotel in South Kensington, London last November and I was absolutely floored by every detail! It was incredible — every little bit was so thought out, I didn’t want to leave!
