LIFE LATELY

Life Lately / May 3, 2020

1 – I feel like I’ve been more diligent about having flowers in the house than food.  Well, certain food groups are consistently stocked, like Tostitos, Hamburger Helper and Gouda, but otherwise, I head straight to the flower aisle.

2 – There’s only so many walks we can take before innovation is necessary

3 – I’m trying out a new headboard fabric, because if left in the house too long, I apparently start to reupholster everything.

4 – My big purchase of the week: Mr. Sketch scented markers.  I just sat down and sniffed then tried each one.  JUST LIKE I REMEMBERED.  It’s remarkable.  Except for orange – maybe it’s just my packed but the skimped on the citrus.

5 – Admittedly we haven’t done our share of supporting local restaurants because Tad self-soothes with cooking, so we’ve prepared all our meals at home.  We did pick up dinner the other night for Tad’s b-day from Cortez and it was 100% delicious.  The fries were still crispy hours later, amazingly.

6 – Rowdy is moonlighting as a gypsy, and Timmons (his anteater) just got a bath in the washing machine.

7 – Some scheming for an e-design client.  She’s redoing her daughter’s bedding and we came up with a charming combo, including Furb Sabina shams and purple ikat pillows.

8 – Hanging with my league of extraordinary gentleman dogs.  I can’t recall a time I’ve ever been outdoors this much, and my hair is turning blonde and I feel freckles festering.

9 – Spotted on IG, we splurged on these rainbow striped velvet chairs a few weeks ago.  After hours of scooting things around the living room, they settled nicely into their kinda-forever spot in front of the TV (they swivel, which has always been a #goal of mine, to own).

On East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Designter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
