PROFESSIONALLY UNPROFESH

My Style, Shopping / May 7, 2020

HERE'S AN IDEA...

So in the spirit of getting things moving again, why don't we just spruce up our stay-at-home outfits with a simple fix: add a blazer.  Seriously though - all my graphic tees and swingy summer lounge pants can take on a new-normal life - just bring on a blazer.  Let's ease into effort, and start with only one layer of profesh right over our cozy crib wear.  Baby steps, my fronds.

My go-to blazer is a basic black Veronica Beard - I love the scuba material with the zips.  Earlier in the year, during cold weather, I could be spotted in it three, four days in a row.  I pair it with the hooded sweatshirt dickey and all interactions assumed an extra air of importance.  Officialness.  I'm here to work, but perhaps also party because: dickey (just the word!), and the dickey is a sweatshirt.

Better suited to last season (as in winter, not pre-resort 2021, or whatever, fashion), my VB blazer is pushed to the back, and I'm rotating in long linen ones, some Chanel-inspired spring tweeds, and a color of horse that's different: blue chambray. That's what up. Here are a few springy suits (minus the pants, because we can still Winnie Pooh it on the Zoomer) that caught my eye, and can help you make the jump from just chillin' to back in business.

On East Lake Shore Drive, this co-op project combined 2 separate units last updated in the '60s into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. Interior by Summer Thornton Designter bath, Thornton juxtaposed diagonal swaths of Calacatta Monet marble with Breccia stone to distract from the room’s asymmetrical layout while providing a unique take on tradition, highlighted by the Waterworks fixtures and a freestanding tub by Ann Sacks. The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
