Being the head pretty-things-picker at Furbish, I thought I’d share straight from this horse’s mouth what we’re wheeling and dealing that’s remarkably rad. Here are a few Furb finds that I’m feeling particularly tickled by this week.
– This massive suzani is exceptional – not only in it’s size (it’s 11.5″ x 7′!), but also it gives me crazy nostalgia vibes, for the first fancy bedcovering I splurged on in 2007, of course, inspired by this spread in Domino,, and of course, ruined by Olivia the Ruiner Cat. I don’t currently have a design project I can work this into, so your win, but I’m dreaming of upholstering a wall in it! Or making a massive headboard! Or tenting it over a bed in a canopy, or maybe even making curtains! You could do like 4 pairs of 84″ curtains if you cut it just right.
– This tiger velvet pillow changed everything for me this week. I was feeling spiteful about my bedroom – just couldn’t seem to get the vibe right, the mix was feeling too juvenile and bright. I literally swapped just 1 pillow out on the bed for this tiger ikat, and kaboom, things perked right up. A little animal print can seriously tame a too-wild color scheme, and I’m here to testify.
– I’m awfully fond of Anna Barzin as a human and as a pretty great photographer. I really love this print – I was with her in NYC when she snapped it on a chilly winter morning in Noho a few years ago. These hearts are still up at Pietro Nolita, a great little super-simple Italian restaurant on Elizabeth Street.
– I decided to bring sexy back with these huge glossy flossy gourd lamps. They were a Furb best-seller 10 years ago, and I’m still recommending them to decorating clients right and left for their bedrooms, entries and dens. Available in six candy-coated colors, and you can choose either a lucite or brass base.
