FLINGS

BUYING

Instagram anticipated my needs and started serving me ads for bras.  It's been literally years since I bought any new ones, and IG did not shame, it merely suggested I consider CUUP.  There's one great paid post that's been served to me several times - an Alexa Chung like lady swirling around in just a carefree cardigan and a bra.  Compelling enough to get this girl to click, and eventually buy the balconette bra in black.  Here's the deal: I love it.  Great fit, good support, feels sexy yet practical, and it's unlined which makes it easy breezy.  I'm going back in for more - the leopard print for sure, and I'm going to try the Triangle too.

WATCHING

Tad and I randomly selected this film on Netflix last night, neither of us knowing anything about it.  It was so weird and funny, we only watched it halfway through so we could enjoy it for two nights instead of one.  Maybe that's like movie-edging?  No matter, it's really really odd and we laughed out loud countless times.  The vibes is very Flight of the Concords meets Stranger Things with maybe a little The Squid and the Whale thrown in (did you ever see that? - real cute).

DESIGNING

The last few weeks we've been rolling out more new pillows at Furb.  The idea is to have a series of pillows in 5-6 different prints, all in the same color family, that are ready to mix and match, and look great no matter the combo.  The basic recipe is this: velvet solids piped in a contrast color, lumbars with bold graphic stripes, ikat silk pillows in pretty pastels, a granny-chic chintzy floral in two acid color combos, a ticking stripe with contrasting fringe trim and a few awesome animal prints.

My fave combo right now: the Greenbrier pillow in Aqua, the Baies Stripe in tomato, a Lilac Swirl Ikat, and a timeless tiger velvet lumbar.

NESTING

I gotta say - it feels great to be in the mountains right now, and to have my main man, Major the pup with me.  He's so happy here - he gets to swim everyday, he's constantly taunted by curious squirrels, and he doesn't have to share his tennis ball with anyone.  He's a sweet boy.

We're also making some mad progress on the house this trip.  I've been on a bit of an buying spree, just checking little things off the list, like nice pillows for the guest rooms, trays for coffee tables, and coffee makers that aren't older than me.  It's feeling like a very cozy cabin, and I don't want to think about leaving anytime soon.  It's about 50 degrees at night which makes for delicious sleeping and offers a welcomed opportunity to wear cardigans on the reg.

WANTING

I stumbled onto a Zimmerman Resort '21 trunkshow on Moda Operandi and took a dive into deeply covetous hole.  I'm not normally drawn to anything particularly girly, but I love the flouncy 70s prints, paired with the cotton candy colored stripes.

The Lovestruck Cotton Peplum Bodice Top is super-cute, this Cut-out Maxi is major, and I think this Cropped Ruffled Top is exceptional.

FOLLOWING

Nikki, Meghan, Shay and Brandy are a FORCE.  These 4 friends in Houston together run the IG account @influencingincolor, a new discovery for me this week.  I dug deep into the archives of their page for some serious fashion inspo.

It's hard enough to get your act together on your own for photos - I'm amazed that they manage to pull off great shots with all 4 ladies always looking extra-chic.

CELEBRATING

We had a very low-key 4th here in Colorado. Some friends from Utah who've been traveling the West in a tricked-out Sprinter van with their dog in Covid-times drove to see us, and they parked the van near our stream where they slept under the stars and encouraged us to really dig into the art of creek-sitting. Camp chairs and White Claws helped make magic, and the pups spent the day chasing sticks downstream and pawing at ball-shaped rocks just under the surface.

The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
