'SKRT SKRT IS A TERM USED TO IMPLY THAT YOU HAVE A FAST VEHICLE AND YOU ARE MAKING THE TIRES SCREECH FROM ACCELERATING AWAY QUICKLY. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH SKEET SKEET, WHICH IS SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT.' - URBAN DICTIONARY
In the summer, I wear skirts. I don't wear shorts. Jeans aren't acceptable in NC because why would you wear denim in a tropical slurry of a southern rainforest, and I don't understand chinos, or other seasonal fabrics, so I just wear long skirts.
Nary will you find me in a maxi skirt and a fancily-paired blouson. It's typically a t-shirt moment, and most always with sneakers. I find this uniform generally gets me through about every affair I need to attend to in a day - with the exception of Colorado, where jeans can rejoin the mix and you can start the day in a tank top and end it in a chunky sweater (I feel this should be the natural cycle to a stylish human's daily Kardashian rhythms. Wake up in sweats, take some off for your day-time doings, and then add a layer back on for a nightcaps. Feels complete.
In the NC fall, a jacket is added to this combo, and when it's supes-chilly, I move some Uniqlo tights under the skirt, switch out for combat boots, and add a Veronica Beard blazer to lewk. This can take a long skirt look to NYC for a winter day, or even in the CO snow. So this is me now, skirts skirts skirts. Err day.
For this recipe, let's go over several variations on the ingredients. I've edited down three looks, each with some steals, splurges, and maybe a surprise or two: like, 'awh girl, how'd you know to find that there!'. Perhaps that should become the subtitle of my blog.
Also, the skirt I'm wearing is Jcrew but unfortunately is no more (do consider this pink one though - it's cute), the t-shirt is a rando one Brian Meares got one time when he ordered weed in the mail, the bag is Balengcia (it's the first fancy bag that ever lived with me, and I used it non-stop for at least 4 years, to schlepp my lapop, and then it fell out of rotation. I am undertaking an effort to reengage with it, and my shoes are Vans.
