THE ROBE TO FASCHUN >>> JOURNEY DOWN IT WITH ME

My Style, Shopping / August 27, 2020

'ROBES, OF ANY DESCRIPTION, WERE AMONG THE FIRST CLOTHES EVER WORN BY HUMANKIND, AND IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER, THEIR USE DATES BACK FOR CENTURIES' = OLD AF

-THROUGHOUTHISTORY.COM

I'm a big fan of a robe.  You can take what would be on it's own a very acceptable night-out outfit, and then add a robe on top, and you've moved into 'i'm serious about this' bizness.  I've had great successes with robes - I have this blue silk one that I always pack and reach for if it's a wedding dinner or a fancy night out.  It's very good over this black jumpsuit, I always like to pair it with something simple and chic, that doesn't compete.  I also have a great vintage black kimono I got at Beacon's Closet on 13th street in NYC, and I wear that often with a black silk tank top, or a white tee, jeans and heels. It makes me feel like I can fit in just about anywhere.

I fully support you incorporating a robe or kimono into your wardrobe - so here are several that would do the job nicely.  You don't have to break the bank to dip into a robe lifestyle - you can try a Free People one for a steal, they have tons.  Anthro is also a great option - they have tons of robes that I've been wearing since college as a daytime event.
