FLANG IT ALL.

Flings / October 2, 2020

CONSIDERING

So I haven't had a manicure since February, and where I once thought that was earth-shattering news, now I'm kinda into it. My nails are actually healthy, and aren't breaking all the time, and my patience isn't tested having to sit for an hour and think my thoughts.  I do miss Crystal at Nail Yeah, and even more so when I came across this inpso pic on Pinterest this am.  I almost booked the appointment but I think I'm going to give it a little while longer.  It would be ideal to ease back in with something minimal like this that takes advantage of my newfound #nailhealth but still is a lewk.

UNPACKING

I'm pretty tickled with this latest round of Furb face masks. I selected a few blockprints that could lean towards fall, yet stay bright and bold, and then we added a little embroidered doo dad to the corners. In a set of 5 you get an assortment of neon pink hearts, and neon yellow Furbish flowers. I've been overwhelmed with how popular these masks have been -- we keep getting feedback that everyone loves how they expand to be pretty big, making working out, traveling, or wearing them for a long while not so bothersome. I have washed mine several times, and they do just fine. All in all, a new Furb fave I'd say.

WATCHING

We started watching an older Prime Video docu-series last night called The Art of Style.  They are pretty shorts little looks into what inspires notable designers, from movies, directors, music and museums.  The first episode on Thom Browne was delightful.  I just had no idea how amazing his runway shows were - totally missed knowing about that in my life.  It was really remarkable how clever and weird and brave his shows are - really performance art.  All to sell an oxford shirt - and I'm here for it.

COOKING

It's October and that means fall cookies.  Ideally.  I found this recipe for salted caramel and sea salt cookies in the NYT, and I think I'm gonna give it a go this weekend.  They say you can use store bought caramels for ease, and to err on the side of underbaking these bad boys so they stay soft.  I made my first banana bread last night, added cinnamon chips to it because #fall, and i daresay, it's delicious.  My friend Asher facetimed me through the making of it, as it was her recipe.  Now there's a baking bee in my bonnet so I'm go all in.

WEARING

Very much digging this new La Double J skirt.  Swipe through for a few faves from the brand.

SHARING

I've been scouring the internet for a very large planter basket for my fig tree, who took a turn for the worst this summer, and I repotted with hopes that was the issue and now we can continue with our growth plan. Now he's in a huge pot, and that calls for an even huger basket, so I'm on the search. What I did find that decidedly does not hold a tree, but is very cute, is this alligator basket. How sweet would this be for a lil' pup's bed?? Just have a cushion made that fits in the bottom, proceed to instagram pup inside, and prepare for all the likes.  (In breaking news, I did find a very large attractive basket I can use here)

PHOTOGRAPHING

New linens are in at Furbish, and we're busy shooting lots of promos to show you how to mix and match with these candy-colored cotton scalloped napkins, and lots of new blockprints.  Our customers are so into tabletop these days - and with good reason.  Staying at home means opting for sustainable napkins cuts down on tons of waste, and it really does help to make meals feel a little more festive.  I've been gifting these sets like crazy - everyone loves a little splurge that they can put to use immediately!

The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
