YOU WENT BACK TO WHAT YOU KNEW, SO FAR REMOVED
FROM ALL THAT WE WENT THROUGH
AND I TREAD A TROUBLED TRACK, MY ODDS ARE STACKED
I'LL GO BACK TO BLACK
I feel better when I wear black. More like myself, but more importantly, I get to spend my time not thinking about myself, when I'm comfortable, and that's a much better headspace to be in. I learned a few years ago that being self-centered isn't necessarily being a jerk, or putting yourself above people - but it is thinking that everything has something to do with you, for better or worse. And that makes for a crazy, very busy brain. It was a lovely realization to make that people aren't looking at me, and they aren't judging because they simply do not care. They're thinking about themselves, which is essentially what we're all usually doing. So I wear black to move myself out of the center, and to think more about what Jenna Lyons is wearing in Stylish (just finished today, and did not see the winner coming...).

Here are a few no-fail top and bottom black pairings, each with an unexpected plaid pop at the tippity bottom. In the photo, I'm wearing a smocked blouse from Josie, Madewell Jeans and these Zara heels.
