VALENTINING

I think this is the sweetest idea.  Yes, everything it does functionally can be done on a phone, but the experience with this Lovebox is really lovely.  It's connect to wifi, and you can send a message or a photo to it from anywhere in the world, and when the recipient gets it, the heart lights up and spins, and when they open the lid the message/photo is displayed on a screen inside.  Kinda like a voicemail on an old school answering machine.  Remember the simple excitement of seeing that little red light?  This would be a very cute gift from a traveling mom to a child or from a partner who may have to be away often. Or your grandma!

DINING

Looking for little wins, I've been setting the table for our meals at home, all-in: tablecloth, placemats and napkins.  It gives me joy to create a pretty moment for us to elevate what's an otherwise unsung situation.  Almost all of the prints at Furbish now are available in sets - so it's easy to set the scene, or if you're dare-y and mixey, you can buy two sets and mix them up for all kinds of possibilities.  Pictured here is the Ventana set (named after one of my fave hotels, in Big Sur.

READING

Ok, so I'm a reader again!  The bad news is Tad and I used to watch TV together before falling asleep, but as covid-times would have it, we spend all sorts of time together, so to wind down, I've taken up a nightly read and he watches something about wars on his ipad with headphones.  I'm reading on my phone, the Kindle app, which I kinda hate because I'm tired of being attached to the damn thing, but the nice part is, as soon as I finish a book, it recommends another, and so far it's been extra on point.  It suggested this one the other day and I LOVED it.  Seriously, go read it - it's great.

FOLLOWING

Go check out Suellen Gregory on insta.  She's a decorator in Richmond, VA and the snippets she shares of her home are so lovely and full of inpso.  A girl after my own heart, she loves a bursting at the seams bookcase.  She has a silly pup, a beautiful little bar, a whole slew of very cute grandchildren and an office full of eye-candy.  It's nice to know there are new tricks to find on the internet, even for an old dog like me.

WEARING

Alert! 🚨🚨🚨.  This cute leopard print coat is over 50% off, at only $70 now.  Such a score -- I wear my all the time in Raleigh.  You should scoop this if you're short in the coat department.  Also, for the tell-me-more mavens, my sweatshirt is by Mother (also on major sale), the jeans are Madewell and always make you look skinny, and the shoes are silly Gooses.

ORDERING

Speaking of jeans, because we were, these from Goop are my first dip back into bootcut and they are spectacular. I had to return and go down a size to get the right (I think they run large), but when I did angels hummed. They make your butt look like you want your butt to look, and the high-rise is comfy and slimming. It's a splurge but I say sure, it's worth it to get another pair in my repertoire that ARE NOT TIGHT.

WATCHING

We watched the Intouchables Friday night and it was really really enjoyable.  Truly heart-warming, laugh out loud funny and all around excellent film.  If you're looking for a happy ending (not a spoiler alert) and a big ole grin on your face for a couple hours, check it out tonight.

The oak paneling was detailed with black molding, a reference to the hand-painted ceiling in the living room.
