One of our original Kilt clients is an online contemporary art retailer, Artsuite. The two founders, both very active and engaged in the Southeast’s art scene, entrusted my team to build their new brand from the bottom up, including visual identity, an e-commerce site, a marketing strategy, social media strategy and execution, as well as one of my faves, developing lifestyle content to help tell their story: that living with art is just much more enjoyable than not.
As I mentioned, a very fun part of the process of building Artsuite for me has been scouting and shooting art collectors from all over the country to feature on the site, and IG. I’ve been able to visit friends, both old and new, who’s homes are bursting testimonials that art is a must-have for creating a space that’s true. True to their passion, their charm, true to convictions and above all, a demonstration that they care (and what about!).
Anna and I went fairly recently to Charlotte, NC where we shot one of my OG Domino-mag days designer crushes, Barrie Benson, as well as her protégé Charlotte Lucas, and artworld-it-girl Chandra Johnson. The three homes (and women!!) absolutely blew me away with some of the most inspiring spaces I have ever seen. Absolutely lovely ladies living 👏🏼 their 👏🏼 lives in gorgeous homes where the view of collected art garners a front-row seat.
Here are a few of my fave pics from Barrie’s mid-century treasure trove – and be sure to check out her feature on Artsuite to learn about how she faked it til she made it, why there’s always layers to her art-cake, and what’s bound to make her spend the dough on a new drawing.
