Remember when I shared Artsuite’s collectors’ series with yal (the first feature we looked at was Barrie Benson’s rad mid-century home – still recovering from the awesome-ness right?)? Well here’s another blow of bad-ass hot girl summer home tour, and it’s a double shot, b/c Barrie designed this home for her friend, magpie-art-maven Chandra Johnson.
Artsuite is an online contemporary art retailer, and my work with them centers around creating their editorial content, and social media. My fave part of working with Allen and Marjorie, the AS founders, is identifying interesting art collectors, with lovely homes, and peering into their places to share with the AS community. We wanna spread the vibe: living with art is just better.
Spotlight: Chandra Johnson. She lives in Charlotte, where she founded Soco Gallery – a contemporary art space featuring museum quality artwork alongside emerging artist. Chandra’s home is a gallery all on its own – where you could stop and stare for hours at her provocative pieces, lively abstracts (see that Twombly in the red room!!?), compelling photography and oodles of objets.
Yal, I didn’t want to leave. When Anna and I walked in, our jaws were on perma-drop. What Barrie and Chandra created in this home is perfect. That just-right mix that I’ve never seen executed quite so well — a little boho but not too much that it feels girly or silly. Lots of luxe, and just a touch of glam. A little edge with tons of polish around it and quality pieces that feel like they’ll last through trends and time. It was exceptional, and here are a few of my favorite snaps from Chandra’s house.
Check out the rest of the feature over at Artsuite, and find out who she names as the ‘original influencer’.
